High-temperature strength where carbon steel stops

When service temperature and pressure exceed the limits of carbon steel, chrome-molybdenum (Cr-Mo) alloy pipe to ASTM A335 takes over. The added chromium and molybdenum give creep strength and oxidation resistance up to ~600 °C, making these grades the backbone of refinery heaters, boilers, superheaters and thermal power plant.

AAM Steel supplies the full A335 range — from P11 / P22 (1¼–2¼Cr) for general high-temperature lines to the modern P91 / P92 (9Cr) grades for ultra-supercritical power. All are seamless, dimensioned to ASME B36.10M, and supplied with mandatory pre-heat and post-weld heat-treatment (PWHT) guidance.

What is chrome-moly (Cr-Mo) alloy pipe?
Chrome-molybdenum alloy pipe (ASTM A335) contains chromium and molybdenum for creep strength and oxidation resistance at high temperature — used in refineries, boilers and power plants above carbon steel's limits.
What is the difference between P11, P22 and P91?
P11 (1¼Cr) and P22 (2¼Cr) are traditional Cr-Mo grades for boilers and power piping; P91 (9Cr-1Mo-V) is a modern high-strength grade for ultra-supercritical service, allowing thinner walls but requiring strict pre-heat and PWHT.
Does alloy pipe need PWHT?
Yes — Cr-Mo alloy grades require controlled pre-heat and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) to relieve stress and restore toughness. P91/P92 have especially strict PWHT requirements.
